No project too small, no project too large.

We offer a high level of technical expertise within a small firm. Our principal undertakes or directly oversees all work. We believe that knowledge, lessons learned, and experiences from similar organizations or projects should be generously shared, and the input of all board and committee members should be valued.

What We Do

Preservation Architecture delivers services determined on a case-by-case situation matching the Owner’s priorities and resources and the needs of the historic building.  Services range from preparation of bidding and contract documents and oversight of full construction projects, to limited or comprehensive existing condition assessments or Historic Structure Reports.

Large & Iconic Projects

Preservation Architecture, a WBE, often serves as a team member to larger architectural or engineering firms for projects where a specialized knowledge of Building, Energy and Fire Codes or Historic Preservation is essential to the overall project’s success. Examples include the New York State Capitol and Court of Appeals, the White House and Russell Senate Office Building (Washington, DC), and the Staatsburg (Mills Mansion), Saratoga Spa State Park, and Olana State Historic Sites.

Roofing & Exterior Restorations

Maintaining watertight conditions involves the entire exterior envelope: from projects of limited scope such as stone restoration to comprehensive projects entailing new roofs and roof drainage, reconstruction of built-in gutters, and upper level and wood masonry repairs. The firm has undertaken scores of such projects on religious properties and buildings owned by municipalities, museums and cultural centers, and other non-profit organizations.
